There’s been a slight change in plans for tonight’s event at Bovil Square in Smithers. Instead of one two hour show, Axes of Ego will be doing two sets, one at 6 pm and another at 8, with another act following each of our sets. Hope to see you there!
Here’s the schedule for Rock the North. This year, it runs Friday, July 11 to Sunday, July 13. We’re the closing act on Saturday, 9 – 10 pm, and the opening act on Sunday, noon to 1 pm. Hope to see you there!
Note: There’s a typo on the first page. Where it says June 11, it should be July 11.
Axes of Ego performing Willie Dixon’s “I Ain’t Superstitious” on June 14, 2014 at the Main Street Fair in Smithers, BC. Canada. Also, just before that, the tail end of our cover of CCR’s version “Midnight Special”.
When we do “I Ain’t Superstitious”, the lead vocal is usually performed by either Heather Harris or Laurette Tesla, neither of whom were available for the event. So, that duty fell to Brad Reddekopp this time.
We had an outdoor performance scheduled in Smithers for the evening of Friday, July 4, but it has been moved to Thursday, July 3 at Bovil Square in Smithers, BC . (It was always going to be at Bovil Square.) The Friday event was sponsored by the Town of Smithers but the new Thursday event is part of the kick-off of the Midsummer Music Festival, which begins the following day at the fair grounds in Smithers.
Unfortunately, Al Sebastian won’t be able to make it to that one but we’ll round up another drummer for the night. Don’t worry, though, Al is still our number one drummer.
So, we hope to see you there! The time and length of the performance are not yet confirmed but we’ll post an update as soon as we can.
Update #1: the show will probably be from 6 pm to 8 pm.
Update #2: Good news: Don Intermela has agreed to fill in on drums for this performance.
Our set went well and they liked us enough to book us for next year before we even got off the stage.
There was a serious accident on the highway which took the lives of several people. Because of this, one of us couldn’t get to Smithers for the event and the rest of us couldn’t get home afterwards. Our hearts go out to the families of those who were lost, especially to our own Laurette and her family.
About 9 pm tonight at Chandler Park in Smithers, we’ll take the stage at the “Relay for Life” fund raiser for the Canadian Cancer Society. Hope to see you there!
We were the closing act for the Relay for Life concert event in Smithers last year. They’ve asked us to do that again this year on Saturday, June 7. When we find out approximately what time that will be, I’ll post it.
We just found out this weekend that the Relay for Life musical event in Smithers is happening this year on June 7. Last year, we were told that that would be the last year for the event and we’re pleased to learn that it ain’t so.
