KVMF 2012

Thursday, July 26th, 2012

The Kispiox Valley Music Festival is upon us once again.  This year, Geoff Wattling is teaching me how to be the Sound Coordinator.  We’re playing, of course.  We’re scheduled to perform on the River Stage (that’s the big, beautiful outdoor stage) on Sunday, July 29, at 4pm.  Our set is going to rock, of course, while simultaneously encouraging unrest.  Sounds like fun, eh?

I don’t see that anyone has posted the festival schedule online yet, so I’m going to post this unofficial (!) copy here: KVMF 2012 Performers Schedule.

Battle of the Bands: Round One Results

Sunday, July 15th, 2012

Well, we’re through to the finals, having won round one in the Battle of the Bands last night (Saturday).  We won by default, since we were the only band that showed up for this round.  That’s not necessarily the way we’d prefer to win but we’ll take it.  If the verbal responses of the judges and others who offered their opinions is any indication, we did well.  They liked the sound, they liked the look.  Steve and I handed out some cards with our logo, URL, and contact info.

Battle of the Bands

Wednesday, July 11th, 2012

Looks like we’re going to compete in a Battle of the Bands this Saturday, July 14.  I don’t have any details, other than the day, that it will be held in the Smithers Legion some time later in the evening, maybe around 10 pm, and that it’s specifically about classic rock cover songs.  I’ve actually never done anything like this before.  Should be fun.  I’ll post again if and when I get more details.

Getting ready for KVMF 2012

Wednesday, July 11th, 2012

Lately, we’ve been rehearsing our set for this year’s Kispiox Valley Music Festival.  We’re scheduled to play on Sunday, July 29, at 4 pm on the River Stage (that’s the big outdoor stage).  Hmm.  That might make us the last act of the festival — not sure, haven’t seen a schedule yet.

Our set this year only features two original songs.  Some of the covers are of seldom-heard songs, others will be instantly recognizable.  Here’s our set list, with annotations:
